LGBTQ+ Affirming Counseling

A place where you don't have to explain or defend who you are.

Therapy should be a place where you can talk openly about your life, your relationships, your identity, and the things you're struggling with — without wondering whether you'll be judged.

At Guidance in Life Counseling, LGBTQ+ clients are welcomed and affirmed. You don't have to come to therapy because of your sexual orientation or gender identity. You may be dealing with relationships, family, anxiety, life changes, self-esteem, or simply trying to understand yourself and what you want next.

You get to decide what we talk about. My job is to listen, ask the questions others may not ask, and help you find clarity.

Welcomed & affirmed

You Don't Have to Fit Into Anyone Else's Box

Sometimes the hardest part isn't knowing who you are — it's dealing with everyone else's expectations.

You may be navigating family relationships, dating, friendships, school or work, coming out, changing relationships, or decisions about your future. Or your LGBTQ+ identity may have very little to do with why you're looking for counseling at all.

Either way, you deserve a therapist who won't make assumptions about you. Our conversations can focus on what matters to you — whether that's relationships, boundaries, confidence, stress, family, identity, major life decisions, or simply figuring out why you keep feeling stuck.

Who I work with

Support for wherever you are in your story.

LGBTQ+ Teens & Young Adults
Being a teenager or young adult can already come with a lot of questions about who you are and where you fit. When sexual orientation or gender identity is part of that experience, there can be additional pressure from family, friends, school, relationships, or expectations about who you're supposed to be.
Counseling can give you a private place to talk, ask questions, sort through conflicting feelings, and figure things out at your own pace. You don't have to have everything figured out before you come to therapy.
LGBTQ+ Adults
You may be looking for counseling because of something directly related to your identity — or for reasons that have nothing to do with it.
Relationships, family conflict, boundaries, stress, self-esteem, major life changes, or simply feeling stuck can bring anyone to therapy. You deserve a space where you can talk about those things without having to educate your therapist or wonder how your identity will be received. Counseling is a place to look more closely at what's happening in your life, understand patterns that may be getting in your way, and decide what you want to do differently.
Couples & Relationships
Relationships can be complicated, regardless of who you love.
I work with couples who want help communicating more effectively, understanding recurring conflicts, rebuilding connection, setting boundaries, or navigating changes in their relationship. LGBTQ+ couples are welcome here, and your relationship will be treated with the same respect and seriousness as any other relationship.

Gender-affirming care

Gender-Affirming Surgery Letters

If you need a readiness/support letter for gender-affirming surgery, I provide surgery-letter evaluations for established and new clients.

A minimum of two visits is required before I can provide a surgery letter. These visits give us time to complete the appropriate assessment and gather the information needed for your letter.

My goal is to make the process respectful, straightforward, and affirming — not to make you prove who you are.
